Did you know that there are thousands of sofa styles offered out there? Sofa styling can be achieved by modifying some of its components, such as back and seat cushions, armrests shapes, and upholstery details, like tufting and nailhead trims. Even the leg design contributes to a sofa’s distinctive silhouette.

But I’m not here to give a lecture about sofa design, I prefer to inspire you and talk to you about six fabulous styles to fall in love with this year. So let’s start!

Introduced at the January Vegas Furniture Market, the Gramercy Park sofa by England Furniture (featured image above) sums up a lot of the 2017 trends in one beautiful green package. Let’s begin by noting that its mid-century-inspired design was already very popular in 2016. Looking forward to 2017, I can point to the tufted back cushions and velvet fabric. Both will be very trendy this year as well as nailhead trims and details. And look at this wonderful green magnificence. Yes, this incredible green, along with other jewel tones (purple, ruby red, ochre, teal, etc.), will be very popular this year as well as other shades of green thanks to the 2017 Colour of the Year by Pantone: Greenery! Tell me, wouldn’t you love to have a sofa like this in your living room?

Here we go again with the velvety upholstery! In 2017, it’s all about feeling comfortable, but now – as so beautifully exemplified by this sofa from Décor Rest – the lines are clean and contemporary. And again, I adore the use of bold, bright colours (yes, blue is back!). I love this model by Décor Rest in particular because it has the craftsmanship qualities of Canadian-made furniture and because you can pick your own fabric or leather to adapt to your décor.

Combine a plush grey fabric with trendy geometric-patterned cushions and what do you get? A fashion forward sofa that exudes contemporary style with a splash of funk, that’s what! Geometric patterns are back in style, but in small doses only. So, go ahead, even if you can’t go for the total makeover, you can still update your décor with the right accent pillows or area rugs.

The petites dimensions of the Pelsor sofa by Benchcraft prove that love can come in a small package. This model is perfect for any small space and with its affordable price, prepare to be delighted and charmed!

Got kids? Well, I have the perfect sofa for you. With its tufted details, triangular armrests, and tapered wood legs, the Forsan Nuvella sofa from Benchcraft is another seductive example of mid-century modern furniture, but its performance fabric upholstery, which offers a long-lasting durability, superior stain and fade resistance, and easy cleaning, delivers toughness, as well as a ton of style.
