Let’s face it, you really know you’re all grown up when you get excited by the superior performance of a new appliance! The truly mature derive pleasure from the “it’s-so-quiet-I-didn’t-know-it-was-working” new dishwasher, or the front load washer that has more cycles than Lance Armstrong, or the sumptuous meals you regal guests with from your new convection, self-cleaning oven. Yes, my friend, this is what I call adult entertainment!

And yet….. I’m here to show you that your wild child’s side can come out even when being the responsible appliance buying adult. Oh yes, my friends, this wild time is called appliance sale season and it’s just around the corner!

The oven you’ve been ogling over and the dryer you desperately need, will all be on sale soon and I’ve got some expert tips to help you get everything you want and need out of it.

Tip 1: Do Your Research

Researching appliances

If the extent of your knowledge is limited to “insert appliance here”, you’ve got some homework to do. You need to determine the features you need vs. the ones that are nice, but you can live without. Appliances are sexy now; they come in a range of colours and finishes – stainless, black stainless, slate, good ole’ fashion white. What’s your preference? There are lifestyle questions, too: top load, front load, top mount, french door – which suits me best?

Tip 2: Measure, Measure, Measure

Measuring appliance (Large)

Once you’ve established what you’re looking for, you’ll need to measure. Sure, it sounds obvious, but let me repeat: measure, measure and measure again to make sure you’ve got enough space. Don’t forget counter depths and heights, and also doorways and stairs for delivery and removal of your old appliance. Having an awesome new fridge is great, having it stick out four feet into your kitchen, not so much.

Tip 3: Don’t Sweat It

Black Friday Sale

Like I said, when it comes to appliances, Black Friday and Boxing Week are where it’s at for great deals. Here’s an insider tip for you though to relieve some of the pressure. Don’t think of them as two distinct, limited-time sales events, when, in fact, the great deals on appliances begin on Black Friday in November and continue right on through to Boxing Week in December, so relax, you have plenty of time to do your research, and did we mention that you need to measure?

Who said being a grown-up was boring? It’s more than boring mini vans, soccer practices and grocery lists. Getting the appliances you want and at a great price, well, it is like having your cake and eating it too.

So if getting it all is the mature activity you’re into, visit your local BrandSource store. They have the hot deals the child in you craves and appliance experts to help you make the wise choice the adult in you can take pride in. Enjoy!
